Jay Leno has a segment where he walks around the streets of Los Angeles and asks people questions about our government officials. The gag is that people have no earthly idea who someone is or why they might be in the news.

It frightens me that these people are given the same right to vote as someone intelligent enough to watch a debate, read up on a candidate’s policies and then make an intellectual decision on who they should support.

I’m convinced these are the people that vote based on name recognition or some false factoid being passed around via chain mail forwards.

Would it be so bad to have a 5 question quiz that you must pass before you’re allowed to participate in shaping the direction of our country?
